Nécrologie de Lowell MacGregor Ostrom

OSTROM, Lowell MacGregor - 83, died on April 28, 2015 at Kingston General Hospital after a brief hospitalization. Beloved husband of Wilma (née MacMillan) for 58 years, dearly loved father of Deirdre (Jeff), and Brock (Angela) and grandfather of Isobella and Isaac. Son of the late Ernest and Harriett (née Lancaster) Ostrom. Sorely missed by his dog, Rufus. Lowell had a life-long passion for sports (sailing, golfing, curling) and was a long-time Kingston Frontenacs' Hockey Team season ticket holder. When his health no longer permitted him to attend the games, he followed them on TV. He retired after 30 rewarding years with Alcan R&D, where he made lifelong friends. He was proudest; however, of having worked on the Avro Arrow. Lowell and Wilma traveled extensively until his health failed. Their last trip was a Caribbean cruise in 2010 that they bought for the family - a dearly held memory for everyone. A resident at Trillium Healthcare, Kingston since 2012, Wilma visited him every day and kept him active. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and husband. Thanks to the Trillium personal support workers who cared for him with humour and compassion. Relatives and friends are requested to gather at the Glengarry Funeral Home, 580 Main St. S., Alexandria, (613) 525-3400 on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 10 - 11 am. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at 11 am, followed by a reception. Interment, Alexandria United Church Cemetery. Donations, if desired, may be made to the Salvation Army.
