Nécrologie de Albert "Bert" Sabourin
Peacefully, surrounded by family at the Cornwall Hospice on Friday, October 12, 2018. Albert “Bert” Sabourin of Cornwall, formerly of Alexandria and Monkland; at the age of 89. Beloved husband of 67 years to Lorraine (née Laporte) of Cornwall. Loving father of Paul (Micheline Charbonneau) and Denis (Claire Filion), of Cornwall; Marc of Fort Frances; Ronald (Isabelle Leblanc) of Cornwall; Gerald (Sharon MacDougall) and Leonard (Val Paul), of Monkland; and Emma Rose (Kevin Rayburn) of Martintown. Proud grandfather of Christopher (Melissa), Michael (Janna), Chantal (Marc-Andre), Jacynthe (Alex), Nathalie (Brad), Samantha, Christine, Matthew (Serena), Nicholas and Olivia; and great-grandfather of 6 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his siblings Daniel (Leena MacDougall), Rosanna (Arthur Giroux), Alphonse (Theresa MacDonald), Isabel – Bella (Donald MacLennan), Emily (Andre Bedard), Laurier (Marie-Reine Leduc), Rolland (Louise MacDonald), and Solomon (Ruth Lucking). Bert was born in Alexandria on December 3, 1928 to George D. and Emma (née Lalonde) Sabourin and worked with his father as a butcher at Meloche - Sabourin in Alexandria before joining the Merchant Marine in 1945. Following the war, he worked for Northern Electric and in 1962 Bert, Lorraine and their growing family moved to Monkland where he owned and operated Monkland Egg Grading as well as serving as the Post Master of Monkland from 1965-1999. Bert will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Salon Funéraire Glengarry Funeral Home, 580 Main St. S., Alexandria, (613) 525-3400 on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Église Sacré-Coeur, Alexandria on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11 am. Interment, St. Finnan’s Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Salon Funéraire Glengarry Funeral Home.
